The Power of Sitting at the Table

May 16, 2024

How often do you have a seat at the table?

Tables are one of the most important places of human connection. The table represents community, family, and steadfast presence. Your ability to sit at the table shows your ability to be present. How present are you?

The table is where God shows his presence, and it was significant to families for years. Today, there is a great divide. Many families can’t be present because they operate in a spirit of business… but little do they know the table prophetically is a big deal to God. He is serious when it comes to having a seat at the table.

Things happen at the table. God is present at the table. God is remembered at the table. Unity happens at the table. Connection happens at the table. Business deals are made at the table. Conversations are had at the table. How often are you having a seat… at your table?

The table is a place to remember the blessings of God by giving thanks for the blessings before you.

Jesus always had a purpose when he sat at the table. That purpose always led others to God. He didn’t hang out with folks just to be hanging out with them.

Jesus was always ready to crucify something at the table!

 Matthew 9

10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

When you sit at the table, things happen!
