God Idea or a Good Idea??

Have ever had a thought that was good, but wasn't God? You literally had to learn the hard way! 😬 Sometimes, things can be a really good idea, but it's important to make sure that we seek God on that "good" idea.
So, my question is... how do you know the difference between the two? Let me give you a couple of clues:
- Good Idea: Looks appealing, makes logical sense, may have short-term benefits, often fueled by emotion or human reasoning.
- God Idea: Births from prayer, aligns with scripture, carries lasting fruit, glorifies God, and brings peace in your spirit.
- Scripture: Proverbs 14:12 — “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.”
So why do we oftentimes mistake a good idea for a God idea? Well, I do think we have all been there and done that. We didn't seek God on certain decisions. We simply made them in hopes for the best.
Here's a Few Reasons Why We Mistake Good Ideas for God Ideas:
- - Impatience (Abraham & Hagar – Genesis 16)
- - Pressure from people (Saul making a sacrifice in 1 Samuel 13)
- - Personal ambition (James 4:13-15 – we make plans without consulting God)
- - Emotional excitement without discernment
When you know that you have heard from God, there are things that will happen:
- - There’s a consistent confirmation from multiple sources.
- - Peace remains even when the situation looks impossible.
- - The decision aligns with your God-given purpose.
- - The fruit produces righteousness and long-term good.
