Fighting with the Wrong Tools
Sep 19, 2025
2 Corinthians 10:3–4 (NIV): “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.”
Ephesians 6:12: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Could it be that you're fighting the wrong way? Could it be that you are handling the situation or the person(s) wrong? I totally get the frustration. I get the anger. I get that you are just tired. I get it. But have you ever thought about and evaluated how you're handling it?
So often, we handle situations, circumstances and people out of our emotions. That means you're handling it out of your soul. That's the mistake we make. We're handling it out of the soulish realm when we should be doing it by the spiritual realm! 😬
Let's talk about some of the carnal ways that we could be handling things:
- Anger & Arguments – lashing out instead of seeking God.
- Manipulation & Control – trying to force outcomes rather than trusting God.
- Retaliation & Revenge – paying evil for evil instead of walking in forgiveness.
- Fear & Worry – letting anxiety rule instead of resting in God’s promises.
- Human Wisdom Alone – relying only on intellect, connections, or money without consulting God.
- Gossip & Slander – talking about the problem/person instead of talking to God.
This ought not be so! We have to feel ourselves when we are in the moment. We have to acknowledge the fact that we are allowing our souls to take over a spiritual matter. Therefore, we need to be mindful of using spirtual weapons instead of soulish weapons.
Here are some examples of spiritual weapons that we should be using:
- Prayer & Fasting – Matthew 17:21, some things only shift with prayer and fasting.
- The Word of God (Sword of the Spirit) – Ephesians 6:17, using Scripture to speak truth against lies. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- Faith – Ephesians 6:16, the shield that quenches fiery darts of doubt, fear, and attack.
- Worship & Praise – Acts 16:25–26, Paul and Silas prayed and praised until chains fell.
- The Blood of Jesus – Revelation 12:11, “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.”
- Love & Forgiveness – Romans 12:21, overcoming evil with good.
- The Name of Jesus – Philippians 2:10, every knee must bow.
There are more things that I can add to this. Check out my podcast below. This is going to be good! Make sure to tune in!
