Don't Let PRIDE Win
Nov 14, 2025
Pride is a BEAST! It can take over and bring destruction in a heartbeat. It will cause division, strife, malice and contention. Pride can cause you to lose the best thing that ever happened to you. It can also cause you to lose the best person that was for you. Not just romantically, but there are people that God will divinely connect you with for the prosperity of your soul- mind, will, intellect, emotions, spiritual well-being, etc.
God tells us in His word that He will bring those that miss it because of their pride... He will bring them to a great fall. They will come to a low place. They will lose things and people. They will feel extreme loss. It will only be that when they humble themselves that they will be able to rise pass the losses.
Here are some things that we have to acknowledge about pride:
1. Pride Blocks God’s Presence
“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” — James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5
Pride is more than arrogance — it’s independence from God. Therefore, it will block God's presence in certain aspects of your life.
2. Pride Distort Our Vision
“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” — Proverbs 11:2
Pride makes you see yourself higher than you should and blinds you to correction. It prevents you from hearing God clearly or receiving from others. Humility, on the other hand, opens your spiritual eyes and ears.
3. Pride Breeds Disobedience
“The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.” — Proverbs 16:5
Disobedience is a fruit of pride — and disobedience always stops blessings.
4. Pride Creates Division & Isolation
“By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.” — Proverbs 13:10
Pride makes it hard to work with others, apologize, or admit fault — leading to broken relationships, which block the flow of peace and unity that God blesses.
5. Pride Keeps You from Repentance
“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray...” — 2 Chronicles 7:14
Pride says, “I’m fine. I don’t need to change.” But repentance is the key that reopens the flow of blessings. Humility allows us to turn, ask for mercy, and get realigned with God’s will.
6. Pride Robs You of Promotion
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” — James 4:10
“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” — Matthew 23:12
Pride tries to self-promote, but God promotes the humble. Humility attracts elevation — because God can trust a humble heart with greater influence.
7. Pride Blocks Answered Prayers
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” — Psalm 66:18
Prideful prayers don’t move heaven. God hears the cry of the humble, not the self-righteous.
