Don’t Let Your Past Dictate Your Future
The error of the past is the wisdom and success of the future.–Dale Turner
When the past calls, let it go to voicemail. Believe me, it has nothing new to say! So then, why is it that you keep answering the phone? How many times will you allow your mind to explore your past mistakes? How many times will you allow your mind to dwell on what others did to you? The reality is, the more you focus on your past, the harder it will be to see your future. You won’t see how bright your future is because of how dark your past was. We all make mistakes. We all say things we shouldn’t say, do things we shouldn’t do, and think things we shouldn’t think. We are human and because of that we error. We cannot let the error of our past ways interfere with the awesomeness of our future. You’ve grown. You’ve matured. You’ve lived, and you’ve learned. It’s now time to bury your past so that you can walk in your purpose. Walk in your destiny. Walk boldly in your future. Overcoming your past may not be easy, but it is possible. All things are possible through God. With him and through him you can do ANYTHING! So, I want to leave you with this. Here are 3 ways to overcome your past. Overcome your past by:
1) Accepting responsibility for the role you played in a failure or disappointment.
2) Identifying the great lesson learned as a result of the failure or disappointment.
3) Incorporating that lesson into your life in a meaningful way that makes a difference for you.
Reality is, your past will keep calling. On a daily basis, you have to block that number from the walls of your mind. Don’t give it room to produce fruit in your life. Your future is too valuable and too promising to waste time feeling guilty over past mistakes. You’ve grown. You’ve matured. You’ve lived, and you’ve learned. Now it’s time to move forward!
