Boojie vs Renewed Mind

arrogant

What exactly does it mean to be “boojie” anyway? Well, according to dictionary.com, “boojie” means hauty, elitist, or even snobbish. So if we look at that closer, if one is snobbish or acting like a snob, then that means (according to dictionary.com) that they are:
• a person who strives to associate with those of higher social status and who behaves condescendingly to others
• person who imitates, cultivates, or slavishly admires social superiors and is condescending or overbearing to others.
• a person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur in a given field and is condescending toward or disdainful of those who hold other opinions or have different tastes regarding this field

So according to this, this person is all about connecting with people of major status while in the process, looking down on others. Also, this person is all about look at me, check my status, look at my bank account, check out my friends, look at my latest purchase, my house, my car,….in a nutshell, completely distracted and unfocused while thinking about the things of this world….thinking of themselves or their “things” more highly than they ought. All the while forgetting that God can give, but he can also take it away. Boasting and bragging about material things and people is never good. For the word of God tells us in Jeremiah 9:23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches and in 1 Corinthians 1:31, it tells us Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

You see, the difference between a boojie person and a person of a renewed mind (spiritually speaking)….the renewed mind person chooses to stay humble while all along knowing that they ARE because of the almighty God! They realize that they CAN…because of the Almight God! They realize that they HAVE…because of the Almighty God! They understand they can DO….because of the Almighty God! So when one with a renewed mind boasts, it’s about the things of God…the blessings and favor of God…how God has made the impossible possible. They brag about being an overcomer through Christ. They boast on how Christ has brought them out of depression and suicidal thoughts, how they went from having nothing to having something all because of the grace and mercy of God. It’s not about houses, cars, and money for this person, but it is about the Jehovah God…Jehovah Jirah who has proven to be their provider time and time again!

One thing I know…people don’t have to see materialist things to know that God has blessed you. You can walk in a building or a room, and people will notice the glory of God on your life. You don’t even have to open your mouth and they can sense the anointing. They will say to themselves that this is a blessed man or woman, and they won’t even know why they are saying it. It’s just something about you that seperates you from anybody else in room.

So then, being “boojie” is never an option for those walking by faith. We should never get caught up in the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, or the pride of life. Having a “renewed mind” will keep you focused on what’s more important in life. Challenge yourself daily to renew your minds. If you don’t, you will quickly find yourself walking in some form of being “boojie”. Remember to stay focused on what’s important to God…and that’s sharing his love throughout this world….freely giving as God freely gave.
